Beaches & Beach Clubs
Our Trulli Collection
You will be spoiled for choice when selecting beaches to visit while in Puglia. Our trulli provide easy access to either the Adriatic Sea beaches (east coast, 20-25 min along country lanes) or the Ionian Sea beaches (west coast, 40 min along country lanes). Here are 10 of our favourites:
Costa Merlata (Adriatic) 40°46'25.3"N 17°39'07.3"E
A series of Adriatic coves, close to Ostuni. Park your car at Paragraph 25 (beach bar).
A series of 6-8 coves heading south beginning at Paragraph 25 and ending at
Torre Pozzella, which has another chilled out beach snack bar run by Mirella.
Pilone (Adriatic) 40.810995, 17.519929
Long sandy stretch of white sand beach in Ostuni. Park either in the beach parking lot, where you can access the public beach . . . or at Lido Bosco Verde beach club (eg umbrella, sun lounger hire), which also has an excellent seafood restaurant and bar.
Lido LullaBay Beach Club (@Pilone)
Lido LullaBay is the place for sundowners on Sunday afternoons from 18:00.
Get there are early as hipsters, from ages 20-50 descend on this beach club to have
Torre Santa Sabina (Adriatic) 40.756759, 17.704436
Family public beach with shallow water. Plenty of restaurants and snack bars nearby in this
simple beach town. Our favourite restauarant is Turricchio. Ample street parking.
Torre Guaceto Marine Protected Area (Adriatic)
Pack a picnic lunch and refreshments because Torre Guaceto is a marine protected
area without facilities but with calm seas, excellent snorkelling and a long white
cresent-shaped beach. Parking is just off the motorway and you will need to either
walk (15min) or take the jitney to the beach. Walk an additional 45 min south along
Coccoro Beach Club (Adriatic) 40.895495, 17.373662
If you are looking for a more refined beach experience, Coccoro Beach Club is the place. Refreshment service to your sun lounger on the beach and an very good restaurant for lunch. The glamour does come at a cost as this is one of the most expensive beach clubs in the area.
Gallipoli / Baia Verde (Ionian) 40.040626, 18.012129
There is a pretty beach right along the town wall but travel 2km south outside of
town to the 'Baia Verde' section to find crystal clear waters that rival Carribean
beaches, stretches with and without beach clubs.
Porto Pirrone (Ionian) 40.371187, 17.309187
Secluded series of coves with gentle waters and even hot springs. Park on street above and follow t the paved pathway down steps to the beach. No facilities, so bring your own refreshments and picnic lunch.
Otranto 40.149147, 18.487148
Grotta della Poesia / Cave of Poetry 40.285874, 18.429613
Marina Serra 39.911929, 18.393438
Three of the most beautiful and unusual spots on the Adriatic . . .
just south of Lecce.
1). Otranto, a classy beach town, with a 'Centro Storico'
and cathedral not to be missed (above, right).
2). Grotta della Posesia for a once-in-a-lifetime
swimming experience (right).
3). And then the natural pool at Marina Serra (left).
Polignano a Mare (Adriatic) 40.996500, 17.218108
A regular stop on the Red Bull Cliff Diving circuit, Polignano a Mare is a picturesque town in its own right. But it's famous beach, nestled in a ravine surrounded by century's-old homes dripping from the cliffs is what really makes this a 'must see' spot.
